xvi, 696 pages. 6 plates of monochrome photographs. Inscribed and dedicated on front paste-down endpaper in ink by the author George Jones to Irene Wagner. George William Jones OBE (4 February 1938 14 April 2017) was emeritus professor of government at the London School of Economics. Jones much admired Morrison's approach to politics and government. Irene Wagner, senior Labour Party archivist, historian and former Party Chief Librarian. She helped found the International Association of Labour History Institutions. Irene was also a key supporter of the People s History Museum in Manchester. During the 2nd World War Irene worked at Woburn Abbey, in the political intelligence department of the Foreign Office, helping the Special Operations Executive distribute propaganda over Germany.This book was reissued with a foreword by Morrison's grandson, Peter Mandelson, in 2001.
