Provenance: From Mrs Darroch from the family of the Lairds of the Gouroch, a port on the Clyde. Some corners creased and slightly curled. 27 x 32 mm. Original maroon roan. Gilt ruled borders and horizontal ruled gilt lines on the spine. Slightly rubbed at edges. Corners slightly bumped. According to Bondy, this title "belongs to the best-loved miniature books, and was obviously much treasured by our Victorian ancestors." At least 34 editions were published in England, making it the most common miniature book of the first half of the 19th Century. The earlier editions are less commonly found today. Bondy, 127.
