Red wool and hessian folding needlecase shaped in the form of a miniature book, or 'blook'. A hand-embroidered red and yellow miniature strwberry in silk and cotton is attached. Front paste-down is the original bevel-edged pocket mirror. 40 x 70 mm. Original turquoise cloth with silvered metal corner mounts and central Circlet of the Order of the Garter, which all knights and dames of the order are entitled to use in their crests - but this example is without any Latin motto. Front cover slightly rubbed. Mirror has a few minuscule spots. Needlecase has a very small hole near the bottom. The 'blook' holder is made of a hand-painted white-glazed porcelain. Made circa 1914. It has the model number '7567' on the rear. It depicts a rosy-cheeked, red-lipped, young girl - wearing a matching hat, tights, and black shoes - with one hand in her fur-trimmed coat and the other clutching a large book.
