History of the Holy Bible and New Testament. Harrild, R.  20, Great Eastcheap. [London]. Circa 1809-21. 94 (of 96) printed pages (lacks final leaf). 5 (of 8) plates. New Testament has caption title only, on p. 57. Not in the printed edition of Adomeit, R.E., 'Thumb Bibles'; but inserted as a ms. addition to her annotated copy as number 'B81 1/2'. The woodcuts are on plate paper, inserted, not on integral leaves but excluded from pagination. Lacks final free endpaper. Pages very slightly age-toned. 55 x 60 mm.  Contemporary plain card covers with old crude repair to spine with green cloth. Front cover creased; corners slightly worn. Binding somewhat marked all over from handling. Approximate date of publication, 1809-21, based on publisher's address, cf. Brown, P.A.H. London publishers and printers, p. 83 and Todd, W.B. Directory of printers, p. 90. Not in Bondy, nor Spielmann, nor Welsh. OCLC, 224551332. WorldCat locates one copy worldwide (Indiana University). The Indiana University copy is from the library of Ruth E. Adomeit, with her bookplate.  If a rare book is one that you'll see once in a lifetime, or, more likely, that you'll never see in a lifetime, then this book does qualify as a rarity.
